Escapes

Amidst the hectic undercurrent of the spilling of one day onto the next, there are many times when I wish to plug out the omnipresent noises around me: the drone of the construction machines, the rattling of the train, the excited chatter of the children, the sounds of the television soaps....the sound of urbanization. At such times, I often snatch a few moments out and lose my thoughts to a place I'd recently visited...the southern-most tip of India...
I can still hear the water gently gushing against our rickety boat, the sound of the paddle swishing past the aqua foliage, the backdrop of swaying green trees and a sleepy, quiet village along the narrow canals. The tree leaves intertwined to form a green latticed window to the skies, sunlight strewed its golden rays, tree trunks lay lazily in the shallow water, and the magic of that land sparkled from the children's eyes; their poverty was not a barrier to their radiant happiness.

Do you have a place you can escape to when the going gets tough?
