Extracting meaning

In my last post, I sketched the uncertainty of confused identities that often follow as the after-drift of mental illness. However, does it have to be true that such experiences are to be construed in negative shades? Might it be possible to somehow extract meaning from these seemingly awry life experiences?
All illnesses can be construed as adverse life events that force a person to confront his darkest fears. Many a times, the choices that come with it are stark: waste away with the illness, or fight back to reclaim your life. Being faced with an illness provides an opportunity to call upon your latent grit and abilities; they provide new perspectives to view situations, they give you unique insights into your resilience, and your will to survive through. Those who survive often emerge stronger, wiser. As Puzli puts it, "....So I stand stronger in pain."
Dealing with a mental illness may leave you exhausted. But along the way of battling through, it might surprise you with an unexpected opportunity for self-discovery. You might regard with wondrous confusion the alternate truths that challenge your cherished beliefs; you might also be astonished to discover the true potentials of your mental capacities! Each of our life experiences are unique and we often tweak them to extract our own highly personal, idiosyncratic meanings. So, it might just be possible that the path of mental illness and its many-hued experiences add an unusual, enriching flavour to your life.
